# Delete your account or project

> Close your Mintlify account or delete a project.

You can delete individual projects or close your entire Mintlify organization. Both actions are permanent after the confirmation step.

## Delete a project

Deleting a project removes it from Mintlify but does not delete your Git repository or the content in it.

1. Open the project in your dashboard.
2. Go to **Settings → Danger zone**.
3. Click **Delete project** and type the project name to confirm.

After deletion:

* The `*.mintlify.app` URL stops serving your site.
* Any custom domain configuration is removed.
* Analytics history for the project is deleted.
* Your Git repository and all content remain intact.

<Warning>
  Custom domain DNS records are not automatically removed from your DNS provider. Remove the CNAME or ALIAS record manually to avoid a dangling DNS entry.
</Warning>

## Close your organization

Closing your organization deletes all projects under it and cancels your subscription.

1. Go to **Settings → Danger zone**.
2. Click **Close organization** and confirm.

Contact [support@mintlify.com](mailto:support@mintlify.com) if you need help closing your account or if you have billing questions related to account closure.

## Before deleting

* Export any analytics data you want to keep (it won't be recoverable after deletion).
* Remove the Mintlify GitHub App from your GitHub organization if you don't plan to use Mintlify again — it's in **GitHub → Settings → Integrations → Installed GitHub Apps**.
* Cancel any active subscriptions to avoid being charged after deletion.
